about TOefL

  • The TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language which is accepted by over 1 lakh universities, professional organizations , immigration authorities, scholarship agencies and institutions around the globe in about countries. It is regarded as the most recognized English language test in the world, with testing facilities located within more than 165 countries and above of 4500 centers.
  • TOEFL iBT is administered by ETS, a non-profit organization that evaluates the English language skills of people who do not speak it as their native tongue. The global iBT version of TOEFL is being the major format in which students can take multiple tests, but no more than once per 12 days.
Listening Section (41 – 57 minutes) 3-4 lectures, 6 questions per lecture 2 – 3 conversations, 5 questions per conversation
Reading Section (54 -72 minutes) 3-4 reading passages, 700 words long 10 questions per passage
Writing Section (50 mins) 2 tasks of writing essay responses based on reading and listening

Reading Section:

  • Duration: 60-80 minutes

  • Format: practice reading passages with questions to evaluate the skills of understanding.

 

Listening Section:

  • Format: a list of lectures, conversations, and discussions followed by questions.

 

Speaking Section:

  • Duration: 20 minutes
  • Number of Tasks: 6
  • Format: Voice opinions about something known, summarize the information and engage in discussions.

 

Writing Section:

  • Duration: 50 minutes
  • Number of Tasks: 2
  • Format: Writing essays based on what is read and heard, stating personal positions while defending them.

 

Scoring:

  • 0 to 30 scale, each section and the overall score varies from 0-120.

 

Test Format:

  • Internet Based Test (iBT): Most popular online conducted, widely accepted worldwide.

 

Test Availability:

  • Offered more than 50 times a year at the testing centers across the globe.

 

Retake Policy:

  • Students can retake the TOEFL, but less than once per 12 days.
